Building Confidence Through Expert Instruction
TravelBeaconQU was established to fill a gap in professional surf education along Ireland's Atlantic coast. We recognised the need for comprehensive surf instruction that prioritises both skill development and ocean safety awareness.
Our approach combines traditional surf coaching with modern safety protocols and environmental stewardship. We believe that understanding the ocean environment is just as important as learning to ride waves, which is why our programmes include comprehensive ocean awareness training.
Based in Waterford, we take advantage of Ireland's consistent Atlantic swells and varied beach breaks to provide diverse learning experiences. Our location offers excellent conditions for surfers of all abilities, from protected bays for beginners to more challenging breaks for advanced students.

Assessment and Safety Briefing
Every session begins with a thorough assessment of conditions and student abilities, followed by comprehensive safety briefings covering ocean awareness, equipment use, and emergency procedures.

Beach-Based Skill Development
We start on the beach with fundamental techniques including board handling, paddling mechanics, pop-up practice, and wave reading skills before entering the water.

Guided Water Practice
Students progress to shallow water practice with close instructor supervision, focusing on applying beach-learned skills in real surf conditions with immediate feedback and support.

Independent Surfing Development
As confidence and ability develop, students gain more independence whilst maintaining safety protocols, with ongoing coaching to refine technique and wave selection skills.
